Friday Evening Post (October 12, 2018)

Howdy Folks!

This week for Writer’s Workshop we’ve been focusing on studying strategies authors use to make their leads better, and we tried out a few of these strategies for ourselves!

For Reader’s Workshop, we’re focusing on how to thoroughly share our ideas as we read, and as we notice an important details in the books that we’re reading!

Math this week had us use our understanding of place value to help round a six-digit number to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, and hundred thousand by using a number line as a tool to help!

We also built a picture of one million using real-world situations and classroom resources, with an emphasis on place value, specifically describing the relationship between different place values.

This week we also generated multiples of numbers and found patterns that can be used to determine if a number is a multiple of another number. We explored the relationship between multiples and factors and find pairs of numbers that have a multiple-factor relationship. Moreover, we discovered the relationship between the dimensions of rectangular arrays and factors. We used tiles and grid paper to find the dimensions of arrays that can be made with a specified number of squares!

And that's a wrap folks! Cheers, and have a good one!
