Reading

We've been learning more about the California Gold Rush of 1849, by reading the novel By The Great Horn Spoon, and through other sources! It's especially important to understand the perspectives of various people heading to California at that time!

Friday Afternoon Post (March 9, 2018)

Howdy Folks!

This is what we've been doing in class this week:

Writer's Workshop

We've utilized skills and strategies to pen a persuasive piece. Out persuasive piece contains a strong thesis/claim, reasons that support our claim, and we've also elaborated on our reasons in order to win over our audience!

We've also been doing research to prep ourselves for our next opinion/persuasive piece!

Reading

We've started to read By The Great Horn Spoon which is set during the Gold Rush of 1849! Combined with additional resources, we're finding out what the social climate was like during the mid 1800's in America!

Math

This week we practiced using decomposing/partial products in order to divide and we jumped into multiplying fractions as well!

And that's a wrap folks! Cheers, and have a good one!

Howdy Folks!

Here's what we've been working on during the past week!

Reading

We've been putting what we've been reading in our Social Studies text into a context that is easier to understand by analyzing additional resources and tying it all together in the form of sketches and labels, as well as timelines!

Writing

We've been working on our persuasive/opinion writing skills in preparation for the upcoming WPA! We focused on honing our skill in writing a strong intro paragraph, as well as elaborating to support our reasons!

Math

We've been practicing decomposing in order to divide! We then applied this skill, after analyzing multi-step word problems, to solve for the solution!

And that's a wrap folks! Cheers, and enjoy the weekend!
