Sunday Morning Post (October 29, 2017)

Howdy Folks!

It's been awhile since my last post, so figure I fill you in on what's happening in E-8!

Math
This week, we've been practicing rounding numbers to estimate, and using the rule "5 or more, let it soar, 4 or less, let it rest" in conjunction with the utilization of number lines! In fact, we're using the number line to explain the rule!

We've also been constructing explanations as to why regrouping is needed at times when using the standard algorithm for subtraction!

Reading

We are plowing through Wonder and having discussion about the characters in the novel and the possible motivations for their actions. Basically, we're making inferences and supporting our inferences with evidence from the book!

Writier's Workshop

We've been juggling various types of writing in class! We're continuing to go through sessions of revision and editing for our realistic fiction piece. We're also collaborating with our peers to write and construct an informative guidebook on Halloween! And speaking of guidebooks, we're still in the middle of typing our guidebook on California regions and landforms!

To top it off, we've been practicing how to take notes by using the keyword strategy and refering back to the the texts we're reading!

And here are some pics of students in action!

And that's a wrap up folks! Cheers, and take it easy!
