Friday Afternoon Post (September 27, 2019)

Howdy Folks!

Let's see what we've done this week in E-8...

Math

We use our understanding of place value to help round a six-digit number to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, and hundred thousand; we did this by describing how the midway helps us round numbers, we also interpreted the position of numbers on the number line to determine the rounding of numbers!

Reader's Workshop

We learned about the Reader's Workshop Reading Progressions, and tailored our inferences/thoughts to mirror the expectations within the progressions!

We're also continuing to practicing noticing important details that helps us draw inferences about the characters int he story; on top of that, we connect our inferences to backstory or from our own experiences!

Science

We took notes to understand the energy pyramid and how the flow of energy gets passed on from living thing to another!

We also completed our notes on how we catch colds and how our bodies fight off the cold virus!

Writer's Workshop

This week, we took our story arcs and focused on drafting out each scene in the story arc; we used our narrative rubric/progression to assist us, as well as referring to charts around the class to assist with our Writer Moves/Skills!

Today, we had Buddy Time with Ms. Kim's class, and taught them the rules of Two-Square and Team Two-Square!

We also spent some time today crafting rap lyrics!

And we had Pokemon Friday during lunch!

Cheers, y'all!
